North Fork Sauk River Access Point

DARRINGTON MOUNTAIN LOOP AREA

To access the iconic Pacific Crest Trail in this area of the North Cascades, you have two choices: The Suiattle River Trail the North Fork Sauk Trail. It is nine miles to the White Pass / Red Pass area. Head north to get close to Glacier Peak, eventually meeting Highway 20 at Rainy Pass 80 miles away. If you are heading south, you will find notable spots like Dishpan Gap, Lake Sally Ann, Grizzly Peak, and eventually Highway 2 at Stevens Pass 38 miles down trail. 

  • Get there: Follow Highway 530 to the major four-way stop at the gas station in downtown Darrington. Turn right and continue 16 miles until turning left onto FS road 49. Turn left into a large trailhead parking lot after 6.5 miles.
